Burnham Plastering and Drylining Ltd are one of the biggest apprenticeship employers for Interior Systems (Drylining) and Painting & Decorating in the South West.

We offer apprenticeships to anyone irrespective of age, gender and past jobs. We have years of experience, with many past apprentices now fully qualified and working on our sites within the region. We are always looking for new apprentices to work with us – could that be you?

Which qualification will I be working towards?

You will work towards gaining an NVQ Level 2 Apprenticeship in either Interior Systems or Painting and Decorating. The course is split into units and you will need 5 units to complete the NVQ. Key Functional Skills in Mathematics and English will be taught depending on your relevant grades. These are 24 month apprenticeships.

Both Apprenticeships:

  • Health and Safety
  • Moving and Handing Resources
  • Efficient Work Practices
  • Using Maths and English in the Workplace

Interior Systems (Drylining) Apprenticeship:

  • Installing Partition Systems
  • Installing Drylining Joints
  • Installing Drylining joints, encasements and partition systems
  • Installing suspended ceiling systems

Painting & Decorating Apprenticeship

  • Preparing work
  • Filling work
  • Emulsion to walls and ceilings
  • Undercoat & gloss to woodwork
  • Making good after snagging

Your time off site

Lessons are completed at a training centre, and the day normally begins at 9.00am and ends at 4.30pm. You will typically spend four days a week on site (five days during the weeks when college is not running)

Apprenticeship working hours

A normal working day will require you to be picked up around 7.00am for a 7.30am start onsite. The length of the working day depends on seasonal workloads and varies accordingly. This is not a ‘nine to five’ job, so a flexible attitude is essential.

Are all of the required tools and clothing provided?

All special clothing and tools required is provided free of charge to apprentices.
